The rules for paid challenges.

Who can enter

You must be 18 or over to create or enter a paid challenge. You confirm this before your first payment.

You need a Google account to play a challenge, so that scores can be attributed and winners can be paid.

Paid challenges are not available everywhere. Where local law treats a paid score contest as gambling, do not enter one.

Entry fees and what you are charged

A challenge creator sets one entry fee between $0.50 and $5.00, in 25 cent steps. Everyone pays the same amount, the creator included.

Card processing is added on top of the entry fee and shown before you pay. A $0.50 entry is charged at $0.83; a $5.00 entry is charged at $5.46. The difference is what the card networks and Stripe charge to move the money, and it is not kept by 3sb.

Payments are handled by Stripe. 3sb never sees or stores your card details.

How the pool is split

The prize pool is the entry fee multiplied by the number of players who paid.

Winners receive 90% of the pool. 3sb keeps 10%.

If two or more players tie for the win, they split the 90% equally. Where the split leaves a remainder of a few cents that cannot be divided evenly, that remainder stays with 3sb, because there is no non-arbitrary way to choose which winner receives it.

How a challenge ends

The creator chooses one of two endings when they create the challenge, and it cannot be changed afterwards.

Highest score: everyone plays until the window closes, and the highest score wins.

First to beat: the first player to pass the creator’s score ends the challenge immediately and wins. If nobody passes it before the window closes, the creator wins.

The creator’s score is set by their own run and cannot be changed once set. Each player gets one scoring run per challenge.

Refunds

Entry fees are refunded in full if a challenge ends with nobody having played it.

Entry fees are not refunded once you have played your run, if you run out of time, or if you change your mind. You are paying to enter, not for a result.

If a challenge creator never completes their own payment, the challenge is deleted before anyone else can join it, and no money changes hands.

A refund is returned to the card you paid with. Card processing costs are refunded with it.

Getting paid

Winnings are paid by transfer to a Stripe account you connect yourself. 3sb never holds your bank details.

You must complete Stripe’s onboarding, including its identity checks, before a transfer can be sent. Until you do, your winnings are held and the transfer goes out automatically once you are set up.

Once a transfer reaches your connected account, Stripe pays it to your bank on its own schedule. Delays at that stage are between you and Stripe.

You are responsible for any tax owed on winnings.

Fair play

Scores are validated on our servers. A run has to be authorised before it starts and each authorisation can be used once.

We may void a score, remove a player, or withhold a payout where we have reason to believe a score was not achieved by playing the game. Where a score is voided, the challenge is resolved as though it had not been submitted.

The game runs in your browser, so this raises the cost of cheating rather than removing it. If you think a result was not genuine, tell us.

When things go wrong

If a challenge cannot be resolved for a technical reason, we will refund every entry rather than pick a winner arbitrarily.

3sb is not liable for losses beyond the entry fee you paid.

These terms may change. Changes apply to challenges created after the change, never to one you have already paid into.
