How we work

Three gates, then five stages.

This shift is not about doing less. It is about doing the right work, the right way, with the right people.

The gates

Fit

We look at the problem before the budget. If it is not something we can do well, we say so in the first conversation rather than shaping a proposal around it.

Focus

Both sides have to be able to give it real attention. We limit active partners on our side; we ask that you have someone on yours who can make decisions.

Follow-through

We agree up front on who owns the software after launch and what happens next. Nobody disappears when the contract closes.

The engagement

01

Intro

A conversation about what you are building and why now.

02

Scope

Architecture, plan and price, written down before anyone commits.

03

Build

Clean code, tested, shipped continuously and visible to you throughout.

04

Ship

Launch, then handoff-- documentation, access, and a team that can run it.

05

Support

We stay reachable. Software is never finished, and neither is the relationship.

Questions

What people ask before they get in touch.

What does 35th Street Builders do?
3sb is a software studio. We plan and architect systems, build them from MVP to full-scale platform, and hand them off with documentation and access so your team can run them. We also build and operate our own products.
How does 3sb decide which projects to take on?
Three gates, before any proposal. Fit: the problem has to be something we can do well, and we say so in the first conversation rather than shaping a proposal around it. Focus: both sides have to give it real attention, so we limit active partners and ask that you have someone who can make decisions. Follow-through: we agree up front who owns the software after launch and what happens next.
What does an engagement with 3sb look like?
Five stages. Intro is a conversation about what you are building and why now. Scope puts architecture, plan and price in writing before anyone commits. Build is clean code, tested, shipped continuously and visible to you throughout. Ship is launch and handoff. Support means we stay reachable afterwards.
Does 3sb take on every project it is offered?
No. Work has to clear all three gates first, and we only send a proposal if we believe 3sb can be your difference maker. If a problem is not something we can do well, we say so in the first conversation.
Who owns the software after launch?
That is agreed up front, before the build starts, rather than negotiated at the end. We hand off with documentation, access and a team equipped to run it.
How many clients does 3sb work with at a time?
Few. We deliberately limit how many partners are active at once, because focus is one of the three gates and it does not survive being spread thin.
What happens when the contract closes?
We stay reachable. Software is never finished, and neither is the relationship. Nobody disappears at handoff.
Does 3sb build its own software as well as client work?
Yes. Dona, Soapbox and the 3sb Arcade are built and run in-house. Dona recovers the leftover balance on a gift card and sends it to your bank as cash. Building and operating our own products is how we keep the practices we recommend honest.

Tell us what you are building.
